15 Oct St. Pete Florida on the Rise
Downtown St. Pete is on the Rise!
From its vibrant arts and cultural scene to exciting nightlife and fine dining, sunny St. Petersburg is a truly special city. But don’t just take our word for it…
St. Pete Florida – Top 10 Cities in the USA
St. Petersburg, Florida was recently ranked as one of the top 10 cities to visit in the USA according to Condé Nast Traveler’s 2020 Reader’s Choice Awards. These awards have been running for 33 years and are considered one of the most esteemed honors in the travel industry, and one that St. Pete richly deserves.
Mayor Rick Kriseman himself said, “This kind of recognition is what we set out to achieve nearly seven years ago.”
Locals and visitors alike have watched St. Petersburg transform before their eyes, as this vibrant West Coast city on the shores of Tampa Bay has continued to welcome a variety of new restaurants, boutiques and public amenities, luxurious residential offerings and so much more.
The St. Pete Pier District
Whether you’re young and single or looking for a place to settle after retiring, St. Pete offers something for everyone to enjoy. The newly reopened St. Pete Pier is the perfect example.
Spanning 26 acres with an impressive multi-million dollar price tag, the Pier is a remarkable addition to the city intriguing tourists and locals alike. The Pier District begins seamlessly right off of downtown St. Pete jetting out into the calm waters of Tampa Bay.
The Pier’s dining has further elevated the downtown St. Pete food scene. Visit Teak at Pier Point for a romantic evening of upscale cuisine. Right above Teak sits Pier Tiki, an entirely outdoor casual rooftop bar serving tropical cocktails and funky bar bites. Bring the whole family to Spa Beach Bistro for ice cream and personal pizzas after a day in the sun. Or even make a reservation at Doc Ford’s Rum Bar and Grill for a night of live music and fun.
While dining is a huge part of the Pier experience, it is certainly not the only reason to visit.
See the beautiful billowing art sculpture named “Bending Arc” which flies high above one of the pier’s many green spaces. Coming in at 76 feet tall and 428 feet wide, this show-stopping piece gently sways in the wind with each passing breeze. As the sun sets, the sculpture is illuminated with pink and purple lights and can be seen from miles away!
Walk, jog, or bike along the Pier for the best views the city has to offer. Bring the kids to frolic in the waterpark splash pad or relax with a friend on spa beach. There’s even a designated fishing deck equipped with a full-service bait shop at the farthest point of the pier.
Whether you’re in the mood for a morning stroll or an evening of entertainment, the St. Pete Pier has it all.
Tropical Paradise with Big City Sensations
From museums and performing arts centers to sporting events and concerts, it’s no wonder St. Pete is one of the top cities to travel to.
Popular museums such as the Florida Holocaust Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Salvador Dalí Museum bring rich culture and history to the city of St. Pete.
The Dalí Museum’s architectural renovation in 2011 put St. Pete in the spotlight. It was deemed “one of the top buildings to see in your lifetime” by AOL Travel News and named one of the ten most interesting museums in the world by Architectural Digest. Beckoning art enthusiasts of the world, The Dalí has greatly contributed to St. Pete’s ever-expanding tourism industry.
Music and live performances are an important contributor to the cultural scene in downtown St. Pete. Experience a Broadway musical at the Mahaffey Theater or attend one of the many outdoor concerts at Janus Live. You can even walk down the main streets to view towering, colorful hand-painted murals that adorn the sides of city buildings.
If sports are more your style, St. Pete has that covered too. Tropicana Field, the home stadium for the Rays Major League Baseball team, is situated right on the western edge of downtown. The Tampa Bay Rowdies’ American Professional Soccer team kick off at Al Lang Stadium, which is perched on the waterfront next door to the Dalí Museum. And right across the bay in Tampa, the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers – with new quarterback Tom Brady – play at Raymond James Stadium.
